Trio Tresensus 10th Anniversary Concert at Angāra Concert Hall
On 31 December 2025, Trio Tresensus celebrated its 10th anniversary with a special concert titled “Mīlestība nekad nebeidzas” at Angāra koncertzāle.
Founded in 2015, Trio Tresensus brings together three very different instruments and musical personalities: Līga Griķe on kokle, Aigars Raumanis on saxophone and Uģis Upenieks on percussion. Over the years, this unusual combination has grown into a distinctive sound world — intimate, energetic, experimental and deeply connected to contemporary Latvian music.
The anniversary concert was both a celebration and a reflection on ten years of collaboration. The programme included improvisations, works created for the trio, and music by composers such as Lauris Gatis Žarinovs, Ēriks Miezis, Arturs Maskats, Anna Veismane, Madara Pētersone, Platons Buravickis, Imants Kalniņš, Kārlis Lācis, Gundega Šmite, Pēteris Butāns and others.
The evening also featured guest artists: singers Paula Saija and Ieva Parša, poets Ilmārs Šlāpins and Inga Pizāne, accordionist Artūrs Noviks, as well as live electronics by Platons Buravickis and Madara Pētersone.
For us, this concert was a meaningful moment — not only to look back at the path of Trio Tresensus, but also to celebrate the friendships, composers, listeners and artistic ideas that have shaped the ensemble. During these ten years, more than thirty works have been created for Trio Tresensus, making the ensemble an important platform for new Latvian chamber music.
The title “Mīlestība nekad nebeidzas” — “Love never ends” — captured the spirit of the evening: music as connection, trust, playfulness and shared experience.
I am grateful to my colleagues Līga Griķe and Uģis Upenieks, to all the composers and guest artists, and to everyone who joined us in celebrating ten years of Trio Tresensus.
